Razzmatazz Getting to know...Pete

Hello, my name is Pete and although I'm not one of the Razzmatazz leaders, I do help each week, and you will see me behind the Audio Desk most Wednesdays looking after the volume of the microphones and the DVD. I also help by putting the activities on the website.

When I was young enough to go to Razzmatazz [that was so long ago Razzmatazz hadn't even been thought of!] I went to Sunday School with my three sisters. When I was ten years old I went on a camping holiday with boys from other sunday schools and had a wonderful time doing new things I hadn't done before. During that holiday I learnt new things about Jesus and why He died: I told my tent leader I wanted Jesus to forgive the wrong things I had done and I wanted Jesus to look after my life in the future. That was when I became a Christian - a follower of Jesus Christ.

I am married to Jan who helps in Razzmatazz with the Green team: I met her at church. We have three children and four grandchildren. Two of the grandchildren are old enough to come to Razzmatazz, but they live too far away.

I have spent most of my working life as a Civil Servant, working for an organisation called the Land Registry. I started at their Harrow office, I've also worked at the Birkenhead, Liverpool and Coventry offices, and finally I ended up at Stevenage. For the last ten years I have worked with computers and was in charge of the office intranet [like the internet but it can only be used in the Land Registry offices].

Pete - I enjoy eating too!

I enjoy riding my bike. I have used it to ride to work, go on holiday, and race. One year I had a cycling holiday in Israel, where I went to the places Jesus knew when He was alive: I saw Bethlehem where He was born, I saw Nazareth where He grew up, and many places He went to, including where He was put to death on a cross, and His grave [which is empty because God made Him alive three days after He died]. It was a fantastic holiday and I still look at the hundreds of photos I took, and the diary I kept while I was there.

Bike racing is great fun, although very hard. I particularly liked the long races, and a few times I took part in races which lasted 24 hours - this meant I started at 2 o'clock one day and finished at 2 o'clock the next day without stopping at night to sleep.

Another activity I enjoy is flying my kites. I have quite a few of them, but my favourite is my biggest one - it's four metres across. I bought myself a kite buggy last year so when I am flying the kite I can sit in the buggy and the kite pulls me along - that's exciting!

When I want to relax and be quiet, I enjoy cross stitch and knitting and listening to different kinds of music.
